Effective January 11, the Spanish Mass and Catholic Hispanic community in Bloomington will relocate to St. John the Apostle parish on the west side of Bloomington.
The Sunday Spanish Mass at St. John's will be at 5:30 pm. It begins on Sunday, January 11.
Starting January 11, we will no longer have a 12:30 pm Mass at St. Paul Catholic Center.
Though this was a quick transition, we believe it will best support the future of our Hispanic community.
A year ago, the Hispanic community identified an acute need for a more consistent place to gather as a community. Because of our limited accessibility during the school year, St. John's provides a place (with ample space both inside and outside) for the Hispanic community to gather year round.
St. John's provides more opportunities for the Hispanic community to be integrated into the parish community, especially in religious education and youth ministry.
Lastly, the new Mass time (which is not possible at St. Paul's due to our existing Sunday evening Masses) will make it possible for bilingual priests to serve the community regularly.
Please keep our Hispanic brothers and sisters in your prayers during this transition.
