I wanted to let you all know about a change here at St. Paul Catholic Center regarding our Spanish Mass.
In spite of our best efforts of the Dominican Province of St. Albert the Great and the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, we are currently without a Spanish-speaking priest at St. Paul's and in the Bloomington deanery.
Consequently, we are, effective July 6, shifting our 12:30 pm Sunday Mass from a Spanish Mass to a bilingual model for Mass. What this means will vary based on the abilities of the celebrating priest. The readings and hymns will be in Spanish, but the rest of the Mass, particularly the homily and prayers of the priest, will be in the language that the celebrant is most comfortable using.
Concurrently, we are working with leadership of both our Dominican Province and the Archdiocese to get a Spanish-speaking priest to St. Paul's as often as possible. We are also working with our Latino community and the Archdiocese to create a long-term plan for Spanish-speaking ministry in the Bloomington area.
Please pray for our Latino community during this difficult time of transition.
