Welcome Freshmen!

During Summer Orientation: We invite you to drop in to St. Paul Catholic Center when you are in Bloomington for your orientation. Find out where we are so you will know where to come when you arrive in August. We are easy to find: You can take Jordan north to 17th Street and turn left, or take Fee north to 17th Street and turn right. We are located between the two, right by the Armstrong Soccer Stadium and the women’s Field Hockey field.

Freshman Cook-out: You can get sick of dorm food really fast. Come and join us Sunday, August 30 after the 5:30 p.m. Mass for a cook-out for all incoming freshmen. It will give you an opportunity at the get-go to meet other Catholic freshmen as well as to experience the liturgy at St. Paul. At this time you will also be able to register for membership in the Center.

Freshman Escape Retreat: After you have had a healthy dose of university life we invite you to take some time for reflection on your experience. The first weekend of October, from Friday, October 2 through the evening of Saturday October 3 we will be having a Freshman Escape Retreat. A time away from the intensity of campus life in a tranquil rural setting, you will have an opportunity to get away, relax, meet other freshmen, pray, reflect with others, and generally have a time of refreshment. Transportation is provided as well as all meals. All you need to bring is a sleeping bag or sheets and blankets, towels, toiletries, as well as yourselves. The cost of the retreat is $35.

Wednesday Night Holy Hour and Drop-In: Every Wednesday evening when school is in session, we have an hour of prayer planned by students. This is followed by drop-in where we simply hang out and have fun. It has been known that food has, on occasion, appeared.

Friday Game and Movie Nights: Periodically throughout the year we have evenings where we will either play games or watch movies. The Game Nights are always just for fun. The Movie Nights are often for fun. Sometimes, however, we will go beyond the popcorn and Jujubes fare and watch something that is topical and thought provoking. Our first movie night is scheduled for Friday, September 18 and will begin at 8 p.m. at St. Paul Catholic Center.
