the Newman Center at Indiana University, is a diverse community rooted in the saving compassion of Jesus Christ, energized by His Sacraments, and nourished by the liturgical life of His Church.
We welcome all. We engage Catholics to be alive in their faith. We nurture leaders with Christian values in the church and the community. We promote social outreach and justice. We reflect the face of Christ at Indiana University and beyond.
St. Paul Catholic Center serves as a bedrock of faith and a sacred place for the 7,000 plus students to consider it their spiritual home. From move in day through graduation, the college experience is viewed as a rite of passage and a critical stretch of one's life journey where young adults often crystallize their core values and faith perspective.![]()
Our growth is consistent with a university parish that embraces all that a parish normally has, plus the key mission of this parish: to be the Catholic presence to Higher Education. Clearly, our mandate and mission is broad. To the degree that St. Paul Catholic Center responds to this mission with fervor, we shall be invigorated and shall be dynamic to all who associate here. Resident parishioners are an essential part of our parish community!
Indiana University draws students and faculty from around the globe. This makes St. Paul a unique parish in southern Indiana. St Paul welcomes Catholics from other nations and language groups. Three in particular are active here: Latino, Korean and Indonesian. Some activities are done in these individual community groups and some are done within the parish as a whole.

Since 2005, the parish community at St. Paul Catholic Center has been served by the Dominican friars of the providence of St. Albert the Great. The priests and brothers live in community at St. Paul and divide the pastoral duties among themselves.
The Dominican spirituality includes a dedication to life long study, endowing them with a desire and ability to engage the academic community at Indiana University.
To be conformed to Christ through the teachings of the Church, St. Paul Catholic Center offers religious education and faith formation to individuals at every stage of life. Walking together through Sacramental preparation, family faith nourishment, and adult education, St. Paul Catholic Center helps all the faithful navigate the lifelong learning path that all baptized Christians are called to.
"You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden..." Matt. 5:14

Stewardship - the giving of our time, treasure and talent back to God.
"When he looked up he saw some wealthy people putting their offerings into the treasury and he noticed a poor widow putting in two small coins. He said, "I tell you truly, this poor widow put in more than all the rest: for those others have all made offerings from their surplus wealth, but she, from her poverty, has offered her whole livelihood." (Luke 21:1-4)
